Kornati - the most indented archipelago on the Mediterranean with 140 uninhabited islands, islets and cliffs- it looks like a labyrinth of rocks and the sea. The Kornati islands are known for their varied unusual forms and extraordinary relief structure, and especially the high cliffs. It is also a very popular destination among the sailors, there is a marina Piskera in the national park and eight other marinas nearby.

Beauty and singularity of the archipelago, moved authorities in 1980 to proclaim a bigger part of that area national park.
The land part of Kornati National Park covers less than 1/4 of its total area, but the values of its landscapes, the "crowns" (cliffs) on the islands facing the open sea, and interesting relief structures, make this part of Kornati National Park unique. In some places on the Kornati islands it plunges vertically into the sea down to 90 meters under the sea (the “crowns” of Piskera and Rasip islands).
The highest “crown” in Kornati is located on the island of Klobucar (82 m above the sea level) and the longest (above the sea level) on the island of Mana (1350 m). |
