National parks - Krka

Krka - the most beautiful karstic river in Croatia, occupies the area between Knin and Skradin; deep canyons are carved in limestone plateaus; among many waterfalls, the most famous are Skradinski Buk and Roski Slap; Beside many smaller cascades Krka also has eight bigger waterfalls; two of them are the most beautiful - Roski slap and Skradinski buk, in the national park. Both are very attractive for visitors and nature admirers for its beauty and magnificent landscapes. Visitors of national park have a possibility to experience unique beauty of nature and plenty cultural monuments in a couple of hours of boat trip on Visovacko jezero Lake.

			Climate along shores of Krka changes from spring to estuary. It is continental at the beginning; sub Mediterranean in the middle, and Mediterranean in the end. River Krka comes from mountain of Dinara in the east part of Knin benith 20 m high waterfalls of Topoljski slap or Veliki buk. Goes straight through the fields of Knin, lowland of Kistanje and Drnis, goes through picturesque canyon with magnificent plaster cascades, enters Prukljansko jezero Lake near Skradin and goes to the Sibenik's channel near Sibenik and then straight to the sea. Visovacko jezero is a lake on river Krka in the centre of national park and has a small island with Franciscan monastery.
